Anthony P. Garafolo, Jr.

Anthony P. Garafolo, Jr., 55, of Onondaga Hill, NY, passed away at home with his family on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Waiting for Tony at Heavens Gate with hugs and tears will be his father, Anthony, Sr., who predeceased him in October 2012. Right behind him will be his father-in-law, Paul J. OConnor, Jr. who loved him like his own. Tony is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 35 years, Debbie OConnor Garafolo. He also leaves behind two sons, Anthony III and Anna Garafolo of Waynesville, OH and David L. Garafolo of Marcellus, NY. Most difficult was saying good-bye to his three greatest treasures, his granddaughter, Kaydee Rose Garafolo of Marcellus, NY and two grandsons, Anthony Paul IV and Giovanni Gabriel Garafolo of Waynesville, OH. Tony is also survived by his mother, Betty Viggiano Garafolo of Syracuse; his brother, Louis Garafolo of Ormond Beach, FL; two sisters, Linda and Richard Harrington of Delhi, NY and Kathy and Reg Grandjean of Baldwinsville, NY. Tony will be greatly missed by all his in-laws too. His mother-in-law, Joan OConnor; brothers-in-law, Paul and Diane OConnor, Daniel and Juanita OConnor; sisters-in-law, Patty Gersbacher, Sue and John Besten, Kathy Durkin, Joanie and John Mahar. He leaves behind a great number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony loved to vacation with his family, especially in Daytona Beach, FL. His hobbies included cooking, baking and gardening, which he was passing this love down to his grandchildren. Tony enjoyed SU Basketball and card night with friends. Tony worked with Fays Drug Co., for their in-house print shop, for 20 years in Liverpool, NY. He then continued his career with Finger Lakes Press, Auburn, NY, Trident Printing, Syracuse, NY and Box Car Press, Syracuse, NY. He graduated in 1975 from Henninger High School and Central Tech Vocational Printing and Photography program. Tony was an active member of St. James Church in The Valley of Syracuse where Rev. Daniel OHara and Rev. John Manno will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, at 11 a.m. in the church, 4845 S. Salina Street. Prayers will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Friday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
