Jodie M. (Heim) Lanchantin

Jodie M. (Heim) Lanchantin, 38, of Syracuse, NY, died Thursday, October 27, 2016, after a long journey with cancer. Born in Syracuse, she was the oldest daughter of Martin and Karen (Thompson) Heim. Jodie received her Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education, all from LeMoyne College. She was most recently employed as an English teacher for the Syracuse City School District. Jodie was a beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, cousin and above all a friend to everyone that she met. Jodie was always a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen for others experiencing their own hardships in life. Upon diagnosis, Jodie embraced an attitude of positivity that was contagious and maintained her infamous sense of humor. Jodie was the life of the party and always wanted to bring together loved ones to laugh and have a good time. She valued the support of “Team Jodie” and those friends, old and new, who stood by her side. Jodie is survived by her loving husband, William; son, Sam Lanchantin; parents, Marty and Karen Heim of DeWitt, NY; sisters, Jamie (Tom) Novak of Bel Air, MD, and Kathryn (Cameron) Durity of Baltimore, MD; mother and father-in-law, William (Lesley) Lanchantin of Cambridge, NY; sisters-in-law, Adrienne (Matt) Leon of Glenville, NY, and Laura Lanchantin of Tannersville, NY; brother-in-law, Colin Lanchantin of Cambridge, NY; nephews, Christopher Novak and Evan Leon; and niece, Sadie Leon, many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends as well as her fur baby cats Herbert Martin & Dottie Sue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Charles of Borromeo Church. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church, 501 South Orchard Road, Syracuse, NY 13219.
