Marjorie Taylor Hoyt

Marjorie “Marge” Taylor Hoyt, 79, went to heaven to join her Lord and Dave on Sunday, January 18, 2015. She was the daughter of Pernella & George Harold Taylor, both deceased. Marge loved The Valley and took pride in her work with many local groups: Webster Pond Watch Group, TNT, and Meachem Area Parks Assoc., with the Valley Pride banners being a favorite project. Dave and Marge owned and operated Raymond S. Hoyt, home builders for many years and took pride in the many custom homes they built. She worked long term temp jobs also while raising her children and holding offices in Van Duyn, Clary and Corcoran parent groups; St. Michael’s Senior High Youth group, CNY Council of Adoptive Families & many years in Girl Scouting. Marge was a devoted member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Camillus working with Tabitha’s Crafters. She had a special attachment to Golden Retrievers dogs and supported CNY Golden Retriever Rescue. She never met a dog she didn’t love. That was true also of kids. Dave and she cared for 29 foster infants. She often said she knew more about the first 3 months of life than anything else. Marge is survived by daughters, Linda J. Hoyt of Onondaga Hill, NY and Kimberly (Geoffrey) of CT and three very special grandchildren, George David, Henry Drew and Arabella Druce. Husband David predeceased her in 2012. Brothers and sister surviving Marge are Dick (Polly) Taylor of AK, Shirley J. (John) Marshall of Camillus, NY and Tom (Bonnie) of Weedsport, NY. She lovingly lists, Carol Metzler, sister-in-law of Skaneateles, NY, neighbor and friend, Jeanne Townsend of The Valley and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Camillus, NY. Burial in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Calling hours will be on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205.
