Mary Woodworth

Mary Woodworth, 97, of the Valley Section of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully to her eternal life on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Mary joins Floyd, her husband of 66 years, who passed in 2003. Floyd and Mary resided in the Valley Section of Syracuse, NY and enjoyed their summer residence at Groman Shores, Sandy Pond, NY. Mary was a graduate of St. John the Baptist School and a wonderful homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed her home, garden, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish for 67 years and a lifetime member of the Pastimes Athletic Club. Mary and her husband were members of the Assumption and Pastimes Travel Club and traveled the U.S. and the world extensively. She was also a member of the Dominican Monetary in Syracuse. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Florence Cottet; granddaughter, Diane; and good friends Doris and George Millard. Mary is survived by her sons, Richard C. (Cheryl) of Syracuse, NY, Edward W. (Barbara) of North Syracuse, NY and Robert J. (Susan) of Clay, NY. She is survived also by grandchildren, David, Michael, Peter Woodworth, and Debbie Lupton and Dawn Chrysler. Mary has several great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren. She is also survived by nephews, Lester and William Cottet and by relatives, Dorothy Stempinski, Roseanne Defeo; and good friends, Ann Schadt, and the Millard children. Calling hours will be held at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13205 on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2 to 5 p.m. Mary’s Eulogy will be delivered at 4:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 2013, 9:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua, 1515 Midland Avenue, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be with her husband, parents and sister and husband in Assumption Cemetery. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of PACE & Loretto for their loving care of Mary for the past 9 years both at her home and in assisted living.
