Muriel A. Woodman

Muriel A. (Pepin) Woodman, 84, of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at St. Josephs Hospital in Syracuse. A resident of The Valley in Syracuse for 50 years, she spent the last four years enjoying her life as a resident of The Villas of Summerfield. Born January 4, 1924 in Augusta, Maine to the late Edmund and Annie (Vaillancourt) Pepin, she graduated from Cony High and Burdett College. After starting her married life in Bangor, Maine with her husband, John F. Woodman, grandson of former Bangor, Maine Mayor, John F. Woodman, they moved to Syracuse in 1954. She was a wonderful loving mother, Nana and friend that brought music and laughter to her family. She gathered much enjoyment as a member of St. James Church, Newcomers, Lamplighters and Socialaires, the Corinthian Club, Valley VIPs, South Side Businessmens Association, volunteering at Community General Hospital and singing with Onondaga Entertainers. She loved to cook, garden, go bowling, play golf and sing. She loved tea parties with her girls and enjoyed their times together on their boat. Murial is survived by her two daughters, Debra Woodman and Stephanie (James) Roberts both of Syracuse, New York and her four grandchildren, Nils Flodberg of San Francisco, California, Erika Flodberg of Syracuse, New York, James Roberts of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Annie Roberts of Syracuse, New York. She was predeceased by her husband in 1997 and a son, Joey. Muriel's family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the residents and staff at Summerfield and the staff at Community Hospitals Emergency Dept. for their understanding and support, the Visiting Nurse Association and Home Aides of CNY for their patience and care and the nursing staff on 1-4 at St. Josephs Hospital for making mom comfortable and showing compassion not only for mom but for her family as well.
