Wilma J. Loughlin

Wilma Jane (Wood) Loughlin, 79, passed away at her home after a long illness. Cared for by her husband of 62 years, Wilma maintained her dignity, love, affection, and sense of humor to the very end. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mother of 6, grandmother to 18, great-grandmother, caregiver, and devoted friend. Wilma graduated from LaFayette Central School where she lived most of her life to be close to family and friends. She worked frequently while raising her children including working at the local school, diner, and graduated from CareerCo as a medical assistant. Always busy in the lives of her children and many of their friends, her home was always a center of activity including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, rock band practices, kids parties, and always an open door for family and friends. Children across the country remember Wilma as “their other mother”. She was involved in making pottery, camping, traveling, bowling, antiquing, and collecting tiffany lamps and dolls. She and her family raised horses, pigs, chickens, and dogs, and she will be greatly missed by her kitty “Kitty Girl”. With a reputation for being good natured and humorous, Wilma always liked being different and was known for such landmarks as the florescent green house and the white car with large flower power decals. She loved sharing a good cup of tea, making large family meals, canning fruits and vegetables, and sharing what she had. She provided final care to her mother and father, mother in-law and father-in-law, and many others over the years compassionately and un-selflessly. Wilma is survived by her husband, Robert T.; sons, Ronald (Lou-Ann), Bobby (Jodi), Robin (Ann), and Randy; and two daughters, Linda and Heather (Nick). She is predeceased by her mother and friend, Ethel; fathers, Louie and Charles; mother and father-in-law, Elda and Ronnie. She is loved and remembered by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins including Dearest Beatrice, and many other relatives and friends. The family will hold a private service to celebrate and remember Wilma’s life, and is thankful for the many thoughts and prayers received during this time.
